Key questions
Calculus was discovered in the late 1600s by two brilliant thinkers: Isaac Newton and Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. They were trying to solve problems about motion, change, and areas under curves—things that regular math couldn’t handle. Newton used calculus to explain how planets move and how objects fall, while Leibniz created the notation we still use today, like the ∫ symbol for integrals. Even though they worked separately, their ideas changed science forever and gave us tools to understand everything from roller coasters to rocket launches!
